On Jan 31, 1968 thru Feb 18, 1968, the TET Offensive began at Tan Son Nhut Air Base.

The 377th Security Police Squadron fought very hard inside this French Bunker, call sign, O-51 Bunker, it was manned by five Air Policemen.

Four of the Air Policemen were killed within twenty-five minutes.  One Air Policeman, Sgt Alonzo Coggins would survive ten hours inside the bunker with the enemy, seriously wounded.

All Air Policemen inside the bunker, were presumed dead.  Therefore the bunker was attacked by small arms weapons, automatic weapons, grenades, rpg rockets, tanks, helicopters and jets.

Then the bunker was retaken by the Air Police, shortly before noon and discovered Sgt Coggins barely alive.

The 377th Security Police Squadron fought very hard and shortly after daybreak, the 3/4 Cav, 25th Inf Div, came to the rescue of Tan Son Nhut.
