Michael "Mike" Gene Richardson, 65
HARTFORD CITY, INDIANA - Prominent business man, Michael "Mike" Gene Richardson, 65, passed away October 13, 2016 unexpectedly at home.
He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Langston E. Richardson and Neeley M. (Clark) Richardson.
His mother precedes him in death.
Mike had graduated from Quantico High School, in Virginia, in 1968.
He met Cecelia A. (Worster) and they married on June 12, 1975 in his parents' yard in Triangle, Virginia.
He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam.
He also received his bachelor's degree in economics from Ball State University in 1982.
Mike was a military child and moved around his entire life, making his final move in 1977 from Washington DC to the only place he has called home, Hartford City.
He was very active member of Hartford City Kiwanis the Blackford Masonic Lodge F & AM.
He was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
He loved mentoring kids of all ages from t-ball to high school business classes.
Mike was co-owner and general manager of Printer's Express / Event Print located in Hartford City on the square.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Cecelia A. Richardson of Hartford City; daughter, Shannon E. Richardson of Hartford City; father, Langston E. Richardson of Williamsburg, VA; brother, Daniel (wife, Lillie) Richardson of Stevensville, Maryland; and two nephews.
As per Mike's wishes he will be cremated.
Friends are welcome to gather together from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 147 East 200 South, Hartford City with a celebration of life service starting at 5:00 p.m. by Rev. Lloyd Hall.
After the celebration of life everyone is welcome to stay and enjoy an informal reception of friend of family in honor of Mike; bring your lawn chairs and stories to share.
