Joe Kricho, Tan Son Nhut Association director, Larry Coup, Tan Son Nhut Association member, and Richard Carvell, Tan Son Nhut Association vice president, present a plaque Sept. 14, 2017, in the 460th Headquarters building on Buckley Air Force Base, Colo.

The plaque was presented in honor of William "Bill" Coup, Larry Coup’s brother, who was a retired 460th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing veteran and passed away Aug. 1, 2016.

Dog Training

An alert German shepherd stands poised with his trainer ready for action near a sentry post.

The canine fighter is one of several being trained at the South Vietnamese army dog training center near Saigon.

They receive around 4-6 weeks of training before being assigned to field units for patrolling duty against the Viet Cong.

A U.S. Advisory Group under the command of Capt. Robert H. Stecker is equipped for the care and handling of the dogs.
